After three years of saying, \”I want to wakeboard\” in Nuvali, I finally decided to just do it!
We went on the Monday morning of the recent long weekend (thank you, National Heroes Day).
Blessing for the day: slightly overcast sky so we got semi-shielded from the sun. What gave us not-so-happy vibes: the line at the beginner lake was too long! We only got two attempts each, and waited over an hour for each round. Our advice: go early mornings on weekdays. Avoid holidays and weekends (includes Fridays).
Just the same, it was AWESOME!
It wasn\’t as hard as I thought it would be.
And I\’m super proud of myself for being able to stand on my first try! I didn\’t make it all the way to the end, but I know that with a little more training, it will happen.
All smiles despite the \”bitin\” session — next time we will go on a non-peak day!
Visited the wakepark twice in the past 2 weeks, only to wonder at the empty parking lot. Turns out they\’ve been working on a surprise:
TO ALL BEGINNERS! The loooong wait is over!!!
Republ1c Wakepark\’s BEGINNER\’S LAKE / LITTLE BRO will already be OPEN STARTING TOMORROW, Wednesday, October 10, 2012! 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. See you!!!
This photo was taken by my friend, Christopher Tan, last Easter. Looking good! I just hope to see actual people on boards going around that lake soon soon soon.
In the next few weeks, you will witness the first pull of the cable carrying its first rider, gliding on water amidst the backdrop of blue skies, surrounded by lush greens and beautiful architecture.
As of presstime, the red rental vests and helmets have arrived, cables are properly working and water is scheduled to fill up the oval.
To add, the latest Liquid Force boards are being shipped and new Republ1c wakevests are going to be placed on the clothesrack.
You can feel the excitement flowing in our veins, and there are surely no signs of us stopping.
You can already make out the loop for the \”lake\”– I\’m skeptical it will finish in two months (I hope I\’m wrong!), but my brother thinks it\’s possible.
Couldn\’t stop myself from taking pics of these cows to the right of the wakepark…
We now know who\’s first in line to try the cable skis!
This is the mound of mud we climbed to get this view:
Be sure to wear good shoes if you plan on doing what we did on a rainy day!
Heads-up, guys: REPUBL1C WAKEPARK, NUVALI will officially open on OCTOBER 26th, 2011. The Philippine Wakeboard Nationals will also be on October 26th-29th at REPUBL1C WAKEPARK, NUVALI. We would like to apologize for the delay of the opening due to the delay of construction brought by the recent typhoons. We will be announcing REPUBL1C WAKEPARK’s Yearly & Monthly Rates by end of August.
Republic Wake Park Nuvali is primed as \”the newest and most innovative wake park in the world\”– and it\’ll be right in our backyard!
Good or bad for Nuvali residents? At least we\’ll have easy access to a world-class sports facility that other people will still have to travel to…
This is wakepark#2 for the Villafuertes, who first put up CWC or CamSur Wakeboarding Complex in Bicol. As \”the first world-class watersports complex in the Philippines and in Asia,\” CWC has definitely succeeded in putting CamSur on the global adventure sports and tourism map:
CWC aims to bring cable skiing to a whole new level and attract watersports enthusiasts from all over the world with its top of the line facilities and relaxing environment. This six (6)-hectare complex, with its 6-point cable ski system, is sure to draw guests, riders and spectators by the thousands. Because of good weather conditions, cable skiing in the park can be done all year round.
Republic Wake Park Nuvali, on the other hand, will occupy part of a 50-hectare land-water-air sports and recreation area in the southern part of Nuvali intended to encourage an active lifestyle for its residents (and pretty much to draw in the crowd). Apart from the Wake Park, it will also have a Skate Park and Wave Rider.
Coming just in time for summer, YEY!
Edit as of August 2011: Republic Wakepark is opening its doors on October 26, 2011. Here\’s the announcement from the Republic Wakepark Facebook Page:
