Fixing up in Nuvali after Glenda

Life in Nuvali Philippines

I wasn\’t in the country when Typhoon Glenda hit.

Looking at aftermath photos in Avida Settings Nuvali,  I\’m glad that there were no incidents in my house apart from a few windows that flung open and plants that fell by the wayside. A report from the same ASN homeowner fun blog (dated July 24, 2014) says that:

The howling winds toppled electric posts causing power outages and peeled roof sheets off the houses. Trees were uprooted along Nuvali boulevard and blocked the roads. No flood were reported within Nuvali.

Inside Avida Settings, some houses had their roof (polycarbonate garage roofing) blown off and the streets were scattered with blown garbages and debris. Green ribbons were littered with tree branches and some trees were even uprooted.

Clearing operations has been on going until now. ASN electricity has been brought back after almost a week. Telephone lines were still under repair.

If you are not living in ASN, we advise you to ask someone to check your property for damages (such as water leaks, stripped paint or broken lamp post).

I finally got to visit Nuvali two weeks ago, August 9th, and saw that clearing operations have been completed inside the village, and most things seemed back to normal.

It was in Solenad 2, however, that I saw cordoned off areas.

The areas surrounding Bread Talk and Serenitea, as well as Gerry\’s Grill and Stoked/Roxy still needed repairs.

I hope to see these areas fully cleaned out and operational by the time I visit this weekend!

The search for that elusive ceiling fan…

My Nuvali Home,

…may have just come to an end!

Surprise, surprise, look at what greeted me right in my (our) own backyard:

Found in True Value Nuvali, my new favorite hang out place in Solenad 2. 🙂

What I have my eye on:

Good buy already at P4,199.75 !   I asked around and friends who have the same unit say it\’s mighty breezy.

The question now is whether to get it in beige or wood:

Nuvali bazaar in Solenad: new location

Life in Nuvali Philippines,

Saw yesterday that the tiangge in Solenad is now located at the parking lot:

Good decision to move it away from the main Solenad area — there\’s now more space for sellers and shoppers, and also more peace and quiet for restaurant goers and those who just want to enjoy the lake.

Also spotted yesterday: our very own Nuvali security car. 🙂

Azkals surpise in Nuvali

Life in Nuvali Philippines,

I had no idea the Azkals were going to be in Nuvali to launch Solenad 2 last Saturday.

\"Azkals

As luck would have it, we dropped by just in time for the meet and greet with the boys. Apparently the first forty people to register at Solenad 2 Main Activity Area were given the chance to get their pictures taken with Aly Borromeo and Anton Del Rosario.

\"Azkals

\"Azkals

Since high school I\’d hear Aly\’s name from my younger brothers who were friends with him in La Salle. Even back then he seemed to be dead serious about soccer. Nice to see him all grown up, a rising celebrity at that.

This was the second time I got to see the Azkals in Nuvali–the first was for a Venare event in the Treveia clubhouse earlier this year (saw the Younghusband brothers). I\’m way beyond the fangirl age, but what can I say, football is football and I\’ll always be a fan.  🙂

What’s open in Solenad 2?

Life in Nuvali Philippines, ,
\"Solenad

We were in Nuvali last Saturday and chanced upon the opening of Solenad 2, Ayala’s second retail area in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.  This new development gives Nuvali an additional leasable area of 10, 670 square meters for food and non-food establishments.

\"Solenad

It was drizzling so we just went for a quick drive around the area to get a feel of the place.

\"Solenad

First to greet us were sports shop and shoe outlets.  Curiously, some of these shops are also located in Paseo de Sta. Rosa just a few minutes away.

What\’s new at Nuvali\’s Solenad 1 and 2?

Everyday Life,

Solenad is the retail area by the man-made lake in Nuvali, made famous by the many kois happily swimming there (I\’m sure you\’ve seen countless pics of fishfeeding here!).

An expansion area (Solenad 2) is nearly completed, scheduled to be opened next month, June 2011.
\"Nuvali

Two of the initial confirmed merchants were Robinson\’s Supermarket and True Value, but Ayala has now released a list of additional food and non-food shops in Solenad 2:

\"Nuvali

Happy to see Max\’s on the list– perfect for chocolicious champorado cravings!

You can see that even shopping merchants are a match for the \”active\” lifestyle–Aloha Boardsports, Quicksilver, Roxy, All Flipflops, Stoked.  Would love to see more \”green\” establishments as well– and an organic market!

Further down the strip is a gas station, to be operated by Shell.
